The Embedded Platform forms the basis for
manifold testing and analysis applications – both, with the IXXAT ACT
tools as well as with customer-specific software solutions. At this, the
platform offers a wide range of interfaces, e.g. for CAN, FlexRay, LIN,
EtherCAT.

Use cases
Test bench
Parts of a vehicle are frequently tested isolated from the vehicle. At
this, the communication interface should be installed close to the
tested device, to minimize the interference in the bus topology.
In order to become operational, most electronic control units, ECUs,
also require a simulation of the remaining vehicle bus. The embedded
platforms offer both: a communication interface as well as a residual
bus-simulation in one device.
Functional simulation
Electronic control units are sometimes required to respond to certain
events in real time. A response of the PC is often too slow or not
securely chronologically defined. In these cases, functional simulations
on the intelligently embedded platforms can be used, which
self-sufficiently and very promptly indicate a response and then forward
this to the PC – time-uncritically.
Analysis
The
platforms can also be used for bus communication analysis. A simple use
case is the pure interface function with a corresponding analysis
software on the PC, but the strength of the intelligent devices is the
pre-processing of data. Thanks to efficient pre-processing of data, it
is possible to send only selected, physical signals from different bus
systems to the PC for evaluation. Results can then be transmitted across
long distances to the PC by using Ethernet for the connection.
Development platform
HMS offers suitable tools for many use cases. Nevertheless, specific
use cases may require precise customized solutions. The open
architecture of the platforms allows to quickly provide adaptations and
extensions of IXXAT solutions as well as fully customized solutions. On
the basis of the software development kits, this also can be perfor
