The EKE-Trainnet® Gateway is a fully IEC 61375 Train Communication Network (TCN) compliant gateway, which supports UIC 556 application functions. The EKE-Trainnet® TCN Gateway consists of four electronic modules: a train bus module (e.g. WTB), a vehicle bus module (e.g. CAN,LON,MVB), a CPU, and a power supply unit. The Gateway is a networking device that ensures reliable and rapid data transfer from one bus to another.
Multiple bus types
The EKE-Trainnet® Gateway architecture is versatile, allowing the use of various bus combinations. Up to four serial links may also be configured like vehicle buses. This allows for features such as Train-to-Wayside communications to be included in the Gateway.
The EKE-Trainnet® Ethernet Switching Unit is the solution for a train where high data transmission capacity is required. Optical ports in the ESU module guarantee sufficient data through-put. The ESU rack consists of ESUs, Power-over-Ethernet Power Supply Units and CPG (CPU with Graphic Display Controller). ESUs are available in different optical/copper port combinations.
Configuration and tools
The bus variables and their relationships are defined using the ISaGRAF® software tool. The procedure is straightforward and user-friendly. The customer is able to modify and maintain variations to the definitions independently.
For system level diagnosis and status log downloading EKE provides the Portable System Tester software. It connects to the Gateway CPU via a serial link.
Control and diagnostics
The EKE-Trainnet® Gateway has built-in support for control and diagnostic functions. These functions provide a powerful and cost-effective solution for implementations where embedded control and diagnostics are required.
