The amount of data in a typical train information network is increasing rapidly.
In modern trains the amount of diagnostic data increases steadily, and particularly the use of video surveillance drives the bandwidth demand higher. For increased data capacity on a train network, Ethernet is the solution.
The possibilities of an Ethernet network are enormous. Almost any device with an Ethernet port can be connected.
The dynamic configuration in an IP Train has not yet been standardized, but the EKE-Trainnet ® IP/Ethernet solution is fully feasible in fixed trainsets, where fixed IP addresses can be allocated to each device and sub-system. Metros, commuter trains, EMUs and DMUs are typical rolling stock where e.g. video surveillance is required.
