CAN

Hardware, Tools and Protocol Software

The Controller Area Network product range from IXXAT can be divided into five sectors:

Interface cards

With a wide range of CAN interface cards, IXXAT offers the right solution for all areas of application. The interface cards can be used both in combination with the IXXAT tools and also with customized CAN and CANopen applications. Customized applications can be implemented quickly and easily on the basis of the free VCI driver or with the aid of the CANopen Master API.

An overview of the interface cards can be found [ here ].

Topology Components

IXXAT Repeaters are used to establish a physical coupling of two or more segments of a CAN bus system. They can be used to implement tree or star topologies as well as for long drop lines. In addition, network segments can be electrically decoupled using a galvanically isolated repeater.

CAN bridges and CAN gateways are infrastructure components for the implementation of complex network structures.

Analysis and configuration tools

The canAnalyser from IXXAT enables simple analysis and maintenance of your Controller Area Network system. In addition to comprehensive transmission and logging functions, the software also offers the possibility of data interpretation and displays signals recieved as a line graph or in plain text (Professional version).

The CANopen ConfigurationStudio is a powerful tool for the configuration and start-up of CANopen systems. Based on a database, all device and system parameters can be configured off-line and on completion downloaded to the CANopen network.

Test tools

The data logger "CANcorder MMC" enables autarkic logging of CAN messages. The data can be called up easily via modem/GSM module using "teleControl".

The CAN-Bus-Tester (CBT) allows the Controller Area Network system to be tested on a physical level. It can be used, among other things, to determine signal-to-noise ratios and the flank quality of the CAN messages.

Further information on the CANcorder MMC and the CAN-Bus-Tester can be found in the "Diagnostic tools" section.

Protocol software

IXXAT offers protocol software packages for CANopen and DeviceNet based devices which enable quick and easy implementation of the protocol. The protocol software packages are available in already adapted versions for a large number of microcontroller systems.

Further information on the software packages can be found in the "DeviceNet" and "CANopen" sections.
