POWERLINK Seminar

Two Day Seminar for Developers and Decision-makers

This seminar is only offered in-house. Please ask for dates and prices.

POWERLINK is a protocol based on standard Ethernet that fulfils very stringent requirements of deterministics and cycle time. The application interface of POWERLINK is based on the mechanisms defined in the CANopen communication profile. This opens up a broad basis for already available and usable device and application profiles for POWERLINK.

Target Group and Objectives
The seminar aims at putting the participants in a position to assess the potential of POWERLINK and to implement Powerlink in their own devices.
It is intended in particular for developers and system designers who want a solid introduction to this technology.

Topics:

1.Introduction and basics:

Real-time Ethernet in industrial communication; POWERLINK introduction; Introduction to basic Ethernet technology and IP-based protocols

2.POWERLINK communication:

Communication modes; Bus scheduling; Addressing; Frame formats; Synchronisation methods; Process data and service data communication; Network management and error handling; Bootup process; Infrastructure components

3.Object Dictionary:

Setup of the Object Dictionary; Addressing of objects; Object attributes; Communication and device profiles; Important objects of the communication profile; Device profile example I/O-module (DS-401)

4.Configuration of POWERLINK systems:

Configuration tools and methods; Timing considerations; EDS and DCF; Configuration manager; Conformance testing

5. Implementation Concepts:

Aspects of an POWERLINK implementation; IXXAT products and services for POWERLINK
