Our consulting services cover all technical questions concerning our technology focuses.
We provide customized concepts and proposals for solutions or we develop system specifications together with our customers on request. For your employees we offer specific seminars e.g. on the subjects of CAN, CANopen, DeviceNet, Ethernet/IP and Powerlink [ Seminar page ].
Example projects:
Systems design for networking of system
components of elevators via a CAN-based network
In close cooperation with the specialists of a world leader in elevator manufacture, a systems design of a CAN-based network was developed which meets the specific requirements of future elevator generations, in particular with regard to scalability, topologies, installation, extendibility, diagnostics and last but not least price. To this end, a specific transport protocol based on the extended CAN format was developed that allows up to 4096 network nodes to be addressed. Further performance features of the system are a central time service for allocation of diagnostics data, automatic allocation of node numbers and a method for simple exchange of network nodes ("hot plug-in"). The proposed systems design was then successfully implemented.
Systems design for networking of system
components in marine automation
Development of a systems design for a communication system based on CANopen for a very successful global manufacturer of control and monitoring systems in the marine automation sector. In this project, concepts were developed for the migration of existing device and systems designs of the manufacturer to a CANopen-based communication system and among other things extended solutions for the high availability requirements of marine automation systems. In this connection, existing solutions for CANopen were extended to error-tolerant communication as well as time synchronization. The developed solutions were then incorporated in conjunction with other companies involved in marine automation in a CiA standard. The systems design developed was then implemented by IXXAT and has been used in practice very successfully for many years.
Systems design for implementation
of a distributed, modular I/O systems
Together with Schneider Electric, a new systems design was developed for a new modular I/O system that uses CANopen as a backplane bus to connect modular I/O disks to the head module, which is used to connect the I/O module to a higher-level fieldbus system such as DeviceNet, CANopen or Modbus-TCP. Here, specific requirements such as high performance and short reaction times, avoidance of uncontrolled message bursts, synchronization of the I/O-modules, automatic node-ID allocation, hot-plugging and hot-swapping as well as self-configuration were to be met. To enable fast reactions of the system, a decentralized, freely configurable logic was integrated, which is available in every I/O disk and links input and output data via logic elements. The systems design was successfully implemented in the Advantys STB system, for which IXXAT developed the complete communication software.
