EtherCAT represents a Class C Industrial Ethernet that carries data in a summation frame protocol with a time-controlled network access in standard IEEE 802.3 frames. Since the data is processed "on the fly" in hardware, EtherCAT has fast bus cycle times (< 100 µs) while maintaining a high data throughput. For applications with high consistency and synchronization demands (< 1 µs) appropriate mechanisms are available. As standard the CANOpen object model is used for managing the data.
In addition to ethercat for standard applications also a special FSoE (Functional Safety over EtherCAT) version if offered enabling the secure and redundant transmission of data.

Industrial Ethernet Module (IEM) for EtherCAT
The IEM represents a flexible and future-proof solution for the implementation of anethercat slave interface. The module contains all required hardware and software components and can be optimally adapted to customer-specific applications through the integrated API.

Already the basic version of the Ixxat Econ 100 has a variety of interfaces and expansion slots and comes with a Linux operating system. The platform is available either in a rugged DIN rail case or as board-level product.

FSoE Master/Slave software
The Functional Safety over ethercat (FSoE) software package enables the secure ex改变 of data over non-secure EtherCAT networks. The software includes functions for realizing FSoE master and slave devices and is pre-certified by TÜV Rheinland according to IEC 61508 for applications up to SIL-3.
